Barelegs

It’s hot. It’s cold.
It’s exactly what you need.

Welcome to Barelegs Sauna

A genuine wood-fired experience nestled in the heart of Ngunguru. We are built on the simple, ancient power of contrast therapy: sweating out the noise, plunging into the crisp wild, and reconnecting with yourself and our community.

Whether you’re here to ease tired muscles, reset a stressed mind, or simply share a laugh with the person sitting next to you on the bench, you’ve found the right place.

Want to shed the layers and experience it for yourself?

Hi, I’m Barelegs.

Kayleigh - Barelegs

Believe it or not, I used to hate saunas. When my husband, Jo, suggested getting one for our backyard to help with our overall health and wellness, my response was a quick, "No thanks." I’d always been a steam room girl.

Then, fate intervened. I travelled to Sweden for a childhood friend’s wedding, where sauna culture was the beating heart of the celebration. Not wanting to be a party pooper, I sucked it up, put on a brave face, and stepped inside.

The physical shifts and mental clarity I felt afterward were undeniable. But looking back, it was 100% the community that got me through those intense first few minutes. When you’re sitting in a scorching hot room and your brain is screaming, “Abort mission!”, having a group of awesome people laughing and breathing through it right next to you changes everything. Suddenly, you're not surviving the heat; you're enjoying it.
I was hooked.

"My friend and I experienced Barelegs Sauna last night and it was magical from start to finish.
Walking in over a little stream with lights hanging in the trees.
We were greeted straight away with a smile and had things explained to us, then we had the most amazing hot sauna and cold shower.
We met fantastic people and are both super excited to join a sound bath event.
We absolutely loved our time and will definitely be going back for more.
I highly recommend.
And my skin feels so good 🌸

"Absolutely LOVED my sauna experience at Barelegs sauna. I particularly enjoyed the secluded, private setting, was able to just lock in to the experience without fear of judgement or unwanted exposure. The pathway to the sauna sets the scene for the beautiful experience with the festoon lights in the trees and little wooden bridge over the creek, feels very calm and inviting. Kayleigh was super chill too, a perfect balance of welcoming, but allowing privacy to let us check out of ourselves for the hour! This will be my new Friday night ritual!)

"Fire-fuelled sauna in a beautiful garden. We enjoyed our stay there very much: Heating up in the sauna, cooling down with the cold outdoor shower, short break walking to the little creek in the garden and than the whole process from the start 🙂
